Senior professional karate instructor Dave Wilkins presents the full Shotokan karate syllabus from beginner level up to and including purple belt (5th Kyu). Dave Wilkins began training in 1979 and has been devoted to this dynamic art form ever since, winning several national championships in kumite and in kata events. He is a senior member of the Shotokan Ryu Kase Ha group run by Sensei Taiji Kase 9th dan and a former pupil of Britain 's most outstanding karate teacher Steve Cattle 6th Dan (1948-95).

This DVD is essential for any one taking up the Shotokan karate system. Detailed descriptions of all the stances, basic attacking, blocking and kicking techniques for each level are clearly shown. Every kata including: Taikyoko Shodan, Heian Shodan, Nidan, Sandan, Yodan and Godan are demonstrated. Kumite exercises from three step sparring and one step sparring are included on this DVD, with different blocks and counters shown involving long range and close range defence techniques. This DVD is so comprehensive that it contains two and half-hours of footage. It is ideal for people new to Shotokan and experienced practitioners as well as a useful reference guide to instructors.
